What it is

Exceptional Explorers is our special education program: applied behavior analysis (ABA), behavior management, and special education tutoring for children who learn differently.

It runs in our sensory and movement area — open floor, soft finishes, room to move — because a child in the middle of a behavior program needs space, not a desk.

A session may include communication and language activities, following instructions, modeling, prompting, guided practice, play, hands-on activities, and appropriate daily living or real-life skills.

Who it suits

Children from 1 year 6 months and up with developmental, behavioral, communication or learning differences — diagnosed or not yet diagnosed. You do not need a pediatrician's or developmental specialist's assessment before you start with us.

What we work on

Behavior management — reducing what gets in the way, building what helps
Communication, requesting and following instructions
Attention, sitting tolerance and transitions
Self-help and daily living skills
Academic skills at the child's own level

Inclusion, not separation

Children in this program share the center with the children in the play-based, reading and academic programs. They see each other, they pass each other in the same hallway, and that is deliberate.

How sessions run

One-on-one, always, for the therapy component. We start with an initial assessment, agree the targets with you, and tell you honestly what progress looks like and how long it usually takes.
