1 yr 6 mos – 4 yrs 6 mos · A facilitator for every learner
Play-Based Program
Structured play in small groups, with a facilitator assigned to every learner for individual attention throughout the session.
What it is
The play-based program is where most of our youngest learners start. Sessions look like play because play is how a child this age learns — but each activity is chosen for a reason: to stretch attention span, to build fine motor control, to introduce turn-taking, to get a child used to following a simple instruction from an adult who is not a parent.
It runs in our playroom, which is set up at child height throughout — tables, chairs, reading shelves and an indoor slide — so nothing in the space is out of reach or off limits.
Who it suits
Children between 1 year 6 months and 4 years 6 months who are not yet in formal school, or who are about to start and would benefit from a gentler run-up to it.
It is also a common first step for parents who are unsure whether their child is ready for a classroom, and want to see how they do in a small, supervised group first.
What your child works on
- Following simple instructions and routines
- Sitting, listening and taking turns
- Fine motor skills — grip, tracing, cutting, sorting
- Early language, colors, shapes, counting
- Playing alongside and then with other children
How sessions run
Individually, or in a small group — and this is the part parents ask about most. For group sessions, each learner is assigned a facilitator who provides individual attention, guidance and support throughout the session. Your child is never one of a crowd waiting for a turn.
Some children need the one-on-one first and move into a group later. That change is normal, and we will suggest it when we see it.
At a glance
- One assigned facilitator per learner, even in a group
- Games, crafts, movement and hands-on activities
- Builds routine, focus and early skills naturally
